黔北农村地区12～18岁青少年睾丸扭转知信行现状及影响因素分析OA

Objective This study investigates the prevailing knowledge,attitude/belief,practice(KAP)con-cerning testicular torsion among adolescents aged 12 to 18 in rural Northern Guizhou,as well as the factors influ-encing these aspects,in order to establish a scientific foundation for the development of targeted health interven-tions.Methods From February to April 2023,a multistage cluster random sampling was utilized to select 952 male students,aged 12 to 18,from one primary school and two secondary schools located in Northern Guizhou.Data collection involved the administration of a self-developed general information survey form,alongside the KAP Survey Questionnaire on Testicular Torsion.The aim was to assess the participants' current KAP concern-ing testicular torsion,as well as to identify the factors influencing these aspects.Results A total of 952 valid questionnaires were obtained in this survey,resulting in response rate of 6.16％.The response rate for each item pertaining to testicular torsion among adolescents aged 12～18 years in the rural areas of Qianbei was notably low.The attitude dimension score was(35.42±6.11),indicating a generally positive attitude.However,there remains a need to enhance awareness regarding proactive attention to reproductive health.Furthermore,the be-havior dimension score was(19.98±6.67),revealing significant deficiencies in knowledge acquisition,proac-tive medical consultation,and health behavior practices among adolescents.The three variables—residency sta-tus(on-campus or off-campus),primary source of medical expenses,and presence of family members employed in the medical profession—were significantly associated with the levels of KAP scores(P＜0.05).The findings from the multivariate logistic regression analysis indicated that boarding at school(OR=1.416,95％CI:1.059-1.890),absence of family members employed in the medical industry(OR=0.662,95％CI:0.473-0.930),and reliance on resident medical insurance as the primary source of medical expenses(OR=0.472,95％CI:0.248-0.900)were significant risk factors influencing the KAP levels concerning testicular torsion among ado-lescents aged 12 to 18 years.Conclusion Adolescents aged 12 to 18 in rural Northern Guizhou demonstrate limit-ed knowledge and low behavioral scores concerning testicular torsion.Although their general attitudes are rela-tively positive,there is a notable deficiency in awareness regarding proactive reproductive health monitoring.Critical factors affecting their levels of KAP include boarding school attendance,the presence of family members in the medical profession,and primary sources of medical funding.It is recommended that healthcare providers develop and implement multidimensional health education programs tailored to the unique characteristics of these adolescents,thereby effectively enhancing their KAP related to testicular torsion.
