This paper discusses the application of the"Eight Formulations of Prescriptions and Medici-nals"from Jingyue's Complete Works in pediatric diseases.In treating pediatric conditions,ZHANG Jingyue frequently employed the five formulations of tonification,harmonization,cold,heat,and dispersion,while the three formulations of consolidation,etiological,and attack were used less often.ZHANG emphasized supple-menting deficiencies as the primary approach in pediatric treatment,excelled at harmonizing the spleen and stomach,favored warm medicinals,cautiously used cold and cool medicinals,skillfully applied Bupleuri Ra-dix for appropriate dispersion,and placed great importance on syndrome differentiation and treatment.This not only reflects his therapeutic philosophy of flexible medicinals use but also embodies his academic thought and practical principle of"medicinals are not bound by prescriptions;they should be used as appropriate",offering valuable lessons for future generations of physicians.
