Engels' health thought is an important part of the Marxist health theory system and a theoreti-cal source for building a global community of health for all in the new era.His health thought contains the profound insight of the materialist view of history,which reveals the social structural roots of health problems under the capi-talist system from a five-dimensional perspective of economy,politics,culture,society and ecology.This multidi-mensional perspective breaks through the limitations of the biomedical model and defines health as the state of ex-istence in which the"real person"realizes the unity of physical,mental,and social attributes in the social rela-tions of production.It provides a threefold revelation for contemporary medical ethics:at the individual level,it is necessary to reconstruct the doctor-patient relationship with the"free and comprehensive development of human be-ings";at the institutional level,it is necessary to establish a system of justice for the distribution of healthcare re-sources in accordance with the socialist system;and at the global level,it is necessary to respond to the ideal of a global community of health for all,which is the"union of free people".
