Erectile dysfunction(ED)is a common,prevalent,and refractory microvascular complication among male patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM),particularly in the advanced stages of the disease.Conventional treat-ment with phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors often yields unsatisfactory outcomes in this population.Liu Wansu first proposed the theory of"dryness-heat stagnation"in his work Sanxiao Lun,which holds significant implications for the prevention and treatment of T2DM complicated with ED.Modern medical research has demonstrated a notable correla-tion between the pathogenesis of dryness-heat stagnation in traditional Chinese medicine and chronic inflammation in modern medicine.Based on the theory of"dryness-heat stagnation,"this study systematically elucidates the evolution-ary pattern of this pathogenesis throughout the disease course.Integrating modern pharmacological research,we have established a staged treatment protocol:"dispersing stagnation and unblocking the Fu-Organs-nourishing Yin and clear-ing heat-supplementing Qi and activating blood circulation-warming Yang and dredging collaterals."This approach provides a theoretical foundation and a practical pathway for integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine inter-ventions.
