In the Republican of China era,physician Wang Yiren(王一仁)proposed and practiced ideas for China's New Medicine.He believed medicine served the dual purpose of individual survival and national salvation,emphasizing its practicality and advocating for a theory of complementarity between Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)and Western medicine.Wang suggested scientifically systematizing the therapeutic experiences of ancient medicine in China to intellectualize it and thereby enhance the value of TCM.He identified legality and adaptability as key principles for developing China's New Medicine.Concurrently,Wang took practical steps,founding schools of TCM,and advocating for the legal recognition of TCM education and examinations.He also stressed that the development of TCM should align with China's unique social environment.These perspectives and practices offer valuable insights for the contemporary development of TCM.
