Severe pneumonia is a common serious infectious disease with high morbidity and mortality in the elder-ly.Because the elderly have the characteristics of decreased autoimmune function,many basic diseases and poor or-gan function reserve,it is difficult to treat and the prognosis is poor.Ulinastatin is a polypeptide drug extracted from human urine,which has a wide range of biological activities and significant functions in anti-inflammatory,anti-oxidation and organ protection.The adjuvant use of ulinastatin in the treatment of elderly patients with se-vere pneumonia can not only improve the clinical symptoms of patients quickly,but also shorten the treatment time and improve the effectiveness and safety of treatment.This paper reviews the latest application progress of ulinas-tatin in the adjuvant treatment of severe pneumonia in the elderly.
