及物性视角下媒体话语中的中国国家形象建构OA

National image is a core component of a country's soft power,and media discourse serves as an important means of constructing and disseminating national image.A self-constructed corpus of Leaders Talk is built,and the corpus linguistics method is employed to extract subject-predicate and verb-object collo-cations related to"China".Based on this,a linguistic representation analysis grounded in transitivity theory is conducted in this study,with the aim of exploring the construction of China's national image in the program and the discourse strategies behind it.It is found that the program portrays China as a trustworthy collaborator,a contributor to global development,a leader in economic and technological advancement,a victim of unwar-ranted accusations,and a proponent of mutual exchange and openness.Three primary strategies employed by Leaders Talk to construct China's national image are identified:the frequent use of material process clauses to highlight China's concrete actions and contributions;the presentation of verbal process clauses featuring accu-sations from Western countries,which elicit responses from interviewees to refute false claims;and the integra-tion of various types of process clauses drawn from different interviewees to comprehensively showcase Chi-na's multifaceted image.Thus,new perspectives and empirical evidence for understanding the mechanisms of China's national image construction in media discourse are provided.
