Analysis of Differences in Fur Quality Between Silver Fox and Red Fox

为比较银黑狐和北美赤狐的毛绒品质,选取9月龄健康银黑狐和北美赤狐各60只(公母各半),测量其皮张长度、针毛长度、绒毛长度、针毛细度和绒毛细度,计算针绒毛长度比和被毛密度,并分析各指标间的相关性.结果表明:银黑狐的绒毛长度、母狐针毛长度、母狐皮张长度均极显著大于北美赤狐(P<0.01),公狐皮张长度显著大于北美赤狐(P<0.05),绒毛细度和被毛密度极显著小于北美赤狐(P<0.01);针毛长度、绒毛长度、针毛细度和绒毛细度间存在显著相关性(P<0.05),被毛密度与皮张长度相关性不显著(P>0.05).表明银黑狐在针毛长度、绒毛长度和皮张长度方面显著优于北美赤狐,但绒毛较细、被毛密度较低;毛绒性状间存在显著相关性.研究结果为狐的优质毛皮选育提供科学依据.

To compare the fur quality of silver foxes(Vulpes vulpes fulva)with red foxes(Vulpes vulpes),a total of 120 healthy,9-month-old foxes(60 silver foxes and 60 red foxes,with equal numbers of males and females)were selected.The pelt length,the lengths of guard hairs and underfur,the fineness of guard hairs and underfur were measured.The ratio of guard hairs length to underfur length and the coat density were calculated.The correlations among these indicators were analyzed.The results showed that the underfur length of silver foxes,guard hairs length of female silver foxes and pelt length of female silver foxes were significantly longer than those of red foxes(P<0.01). The pelt length of male silver foxes was also significantly longer than that of red foxes (P<0.05). The underfur fineness and coat density of silver foxes were significantly lower than those of red foxes (P<0.01). Correlation analysis revealed significant relationships among guard hairs length,underfur length,guard hairs fineness,and underfur fineness (P<0.05),no significant correlation was found between coat density and pelt length (P>0.05). It demonstrated that silver foxes were significantly better than red foxes in terms of guard hairs length,underfur length and pelt length,but had finer underfur and lower coat density. There was a significant correlation among the fur traits. The results of this study provided a scientific basis for the selection of high-quality fur.
