Objective To analyze the medication patterns of Chief Physician SHEN Minhe in the treatment of gastrointestinal dysfunction associated with colorectal cancer based on data mining methods and machine learning algorithms,with a focus on the pathogenesis and clinical characteristics of diarrhea associated with colorectal cancer and clinical medication patterns.Methods A total of 224 prescriptions used by Chief Physician SHEN Minhe for treating diarrhea associated with colorectal cancer were collected.The Apriori algorithm,SPSS clustering,analytic hierarchy process(AHP),self-organizing map(SOM),and technique for order preference by similarity to an ideal solution(TOPSIS)were employed to mine the medication patterns.Results The 224 prescriptions contained a total of 168 drugs,among which 29 had high frequency,with the main effects of tonifying deficiency,promoting urination,draining dampness,and clearing heat.The high-frequency drugs were highly correlated with each other,SPSS clustering was performed to obtain three core clustering prescriptions,and AHP-SOM-TOPSIS analysis yielded one brand-new prescription.The prescriptions obtained by the conventional clustering and machine learning algorithms shared the same treatment principles and methods,as the article 19 of pathogenesis said,"all syndromes characterized by adverse flow of Qi,difficulty in urination and defecation and diarrhea are associated with the lower energizer."Gastrointestinal dysfunction in colorectal cancer needs to be treated from the liver and kidney.Conclusion According to SHEN's medication patterns and"all syndromes characterized by adverse flow of Qi,difficulty in urination and defecation and diarrhea are associated with the lower energizer,"diarrhea associated with colorectal cancer is linked to liver Qi stagnation invading the spleen and kidney Yang deficiency.The treatment should focus on soothing the liver and invigorating the spleen,while warming and tonifying kidney Yang,reflecting a therapeutic approach centered on the liver and kidney.
