In order to promote wild vegetable Plantago asiatica growth and enhance its yield,a pot experiment investigated the effects of Bacillus subtilis at different fold dilutions(100,200,300,and 400-fold,and distilled water used as the control)on the growth and nutrient uptake of P.asiatica.Results indicated that B.subtilis increased the biomass and photosynthetic pigment(chlorophyll a,chlorophyll b,and carotenoid)content of P.asiatica,while reduced the root/shoot ratio.Compared to control,B.subtilis at 100,200,300,and 400-fold dilutions increased the root biomass by 9.09%,13.17%,7.61%,and 7.24%,respectively,and increased the shoot biomass by 13.66%,29.61%,24.75%,and 13.21%,respectively.Additionally,B.subtilis moderately elevated soil alkali-hydrolyzable nitrogen,available phosphorus,and available potassium levels,increased total nitrogen,phosphorus,and potassium contents in P.asiatica,and lowered soil pH,with the 200-fold dilution yielding the most favorable effects.At a 200-fold dilution of B.subtilis,the shoot total nitrogen,total phosphorus,and total potassium contents in P.asiatica increased by 39.23%,22.03%,and 8.40%,respectively,compared to control.Thus,B.subtilis can promote growth and nutrient uptake of P.asiatica,with the 200-fold dilution yielding the most favorable results.
