Shennong (approximately lived between 3000_(BCE) and 2000_(BCE)),also known as the Flame Emperor, is widely regarded as the pioneer of ancient Chinese agricultural civilization and pharmacology. He holds a highly esteemed position in traditional culture, and Shennong''s Herbals (Shen Nong Ben Cao Jing), which is attributed to him, is the earliest known pharmacological monograph in China.In the origin myths of Chinese civilization, Shennong''s image is a blend of historical reality and mythological legend.
