This study focuses on the anaerobic digestion of food waste,systematically evaluating the effects of composite metal element supplementation on the performance of a large-scale continuous stirred tank reactor(CSTR)and the metabol-ic activity of microbial communities.The results demonstrate that the addition of composite metal elements significantly alle-viated the accumulation of volatile fatty acids(VFAs),reducing the average VFAs concentration to 1389±262 mg·L-1,a 35.1%decrease compared to the pre-supplementation phase-effectively mitigating acidification risks and ensuring stable system operation.Anaerobic digestion efficiency was notably enhanced,with the average organic loading rate(OLR)reac-hing 2.48±0.35 kgVS·m-3d-1,representing a 49.4%increase.In terms of biogas production,the daily methane yield increased to 5900±566 m3,34.3%improvement,accompanied by a 12.5%rise in methane production rate.Metatran-scriptomic analysis further revealed a significant upregulation of key enzymes associated with the methanogenesis pathway following composite metal elementsupplementation,indicating enhanced microbial enzymatic activity and metabolic pathway activation.These findings highlight the pivotal role of composite metal elementregulation in promoting the stability and effi-ciency of large-scale anaerobic digestion systems for food waste treatment.
