Provenance characteristics of Shanxi Formation in the central-eastern part of southern North China Basin:evidence from sedimentary geochemistry
南华北盆地位于华北克拉通东南部,处于华北板块与下扬子板块的结合部位,物源体系研究是深化该地区沉积模式认识的关键.以南华北盆地中部3 口钻井的山西组砂岩、粉砂岩及泥岩为研究对象,对海陆过渡相碎屑岩进行了岩石学及地球化学分析,利用地球化学和岩石学特征参数判别山西组海陆过渡相碎屑岩的物质来源及源区构造背景.结果表明:1)在海陆过渡相碎屑岩物源研究中,微量元素和稀土元素的敏感性更强,主量元素的敏感性较弱;2)依据主、微量元素组合和比值,综合判定研究区山西组为近源淡水贫氧-富氧的弱还原-弱氧化浅海沉积环境;3)山西组沉积物源来源多样,主要来自隆升区的大陆岛弧,少量来自隆升区的活动大陆边缘和隆升区的古被动大陆边缘;4)南部秦岭-大别山造山带一侧是研究区山西组碎屑岩物源区,以形成于"弧-陆"碰撞早期的大陆岛弧和活动大陆边缘物源为主;西部则为形成于"弧-陆"碰撞后期的物源,其中向海一侧主要是大陆岛弧物源,向陆一侧发育少量华北克拉通提供的隆升区古被动大陆边缘物源.
The southern North China Basin is located in the southeastern North China Craton,at the junction of the North China and lower Yangtze plates.Investigating the provenance system is crucial to gain a deeper under-standing of the sedimentary pattern in this region.Focusing on the sandstones,siltstones,and mudstones in the Shanxi Formation in three wells drilled in the central part of southern North China Basin,this study conducted petrological and geochemical analyses of marine-continental transitional clastics in this formation.Using petrologi-cal and geochemical characteristic parameters,this study determined the provenance areas of the clastics and their tectonic settings.The results indicate that:1)both trace and rare earth elements exhibit relatively higher sensitiv-ity than major minerals in research into the provenance of marine-continental transitional clastics.2)Shanxi For-mation in the study area features a near-source,freshwater,neritic sedimentary environment that ranges from dys-oxic to oxygen-rich and from weakly reducing to weakly oxidizing conditions.3)This formation features a variety of sedimentary provenance areas.Sediments in the area originate primarily from uplifted continental island arcs,along with contributions from uplifted active continental margins and ancient passive continental margins.4)The Qinling-Dabie orogenic belt to the south serves as the provenance area of the clastics in the Shanxi Formation in the study area.The southern part of study area can be dated back to the early stage of the arc-continent collision,with primary provenance areas including continental island arcs and active continental margins.In contrast,the western part of the study area is formed in the late stage of the arc-continent collision.For its seaward side,the primary provenance areas consist of continental island arcs.For its landward side,the provenance areas prove to be a small number of uplifted paleo-passive continental margins of the North China Craton.
