Progress on the application of neurofilament light chain in epilepsy
癫痫是由多种病因引起的以神经元反复异常放电所致的神经系统疾病之一.神经丝轻链蛋白(NfL)是神经轴突细胞骨架蛋白,已被确定为许多中枢神经系统疾病中轴突损伤的生物标志物.近年来关于NfL在癫痫中的应用价值也逐渐引起关注.NfL水平的升高程度与癫痫发作的严重程度、持续时间长短密切相关.NfL水平的动态改变和癫痫持续状态患者的临床结局存在关联.本文对NfL作为癫痫生物标志物的价值及潜在的研究方向进行综述,以期为临床上癫痫患者的管理提供新思路.
Epilepsy is one of the neurological diseases caused by multiple etiologies and characterized by repeated abnormal discharges of neurons.Neurofilament light chain(NfL)is a cytoskeletal protein of nerve axons and has been identified as a biomarker for axonal injury in many central nervous system diseases.In recent years,the application value of NfL in epilepsy has gradually attracted attention.The degree of elevation of NfL levels is closely related to the severity and duration of epileptic seizures.The dynamic changes in NfL levels are associated with the clinical outcomes of patients with status epilepticus.This article reviews the value of NfL as a biomarker for epilepsy and potential research directions,aiming to provide new ideas for the clinical management of epilepsy patients.
