Objective To examine regional differences in residents'choice of medical institutions and the factors influencing these choices,providing reference for the government to further promote hierarchical medical care.Methods Based on the calculation of the medical resource distribution level index,empirical analyses were conducted to determine factors influencing residents'medical institution preferences,and to examine the differences in these influencing factors among residents in different regions.Results Educational attainment,medical resource distribution,health beliefs,and health status all significantly influenced residents'choice of medical institutions.Residents in better health or living in areas with abundant primary healthcare resources were more likely to choose primary healthcare institutions.Significant regional differences were observed in factors such as age,satisfaction with local healthcare facilities,chronic disease status,and levels of medical resources.Conclusion Factors influencing residents'choice of medical institutions vary significantly across regions.Regional-specific strategies should thus be developed to enhance primary healthcare capacities and guide residents toward appropriate healthcare utilization.
