Objective:To investigate reward function and its neural mechanisms in male methamphetamine(MA)dependents.Methods:Fifteen male MA dependents and fifteen male healthy controls completed the Monetar-y Incentive Delay(MID)task while functional near-infrared spectroscopy(fNIRS)measured behavioral indicators(accuracy rate,reaction time)and prefrontal cortex activation levels under reward,neutral,and punishment stimulus conditions.Participants also completed the Behavioral Inhibition System/Behavioral Activation System scale and Barratt Impulsiveness Scale(BIS-11).Results:In the MID task,MA dependents showed lower accuracy rates than healthy controls under reward,neutral,and punishment stimulus conditions(Ps＜0.01).Under the reward stimulus condition,their reaction time was longer than that of healthy controls(P＜0.05).Under the neutral stimulus condi-tion,the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex(DLPFC)activation level of MA dependents was higher than that of healthy controls(P＜0.05).MA dependents had higher BIS-11 total scores than healthy controls(P＜0.05).After controlling for age and education level,group differences in accuracy,reaction time,prefrontal activation,and BIS-11 scores were no longer significant(Ps＞0.05).Conclusion:The reward function in male MA dependents differs from that of healthy adults,manifesting as reduced behavioral efficiency and increased cognitive resource consump-tion,although these differences may be influenced by individual demographic factors.
