Objective:To examine the status of disease distress and its associated factors among young and middle-aged patients with inflammatory bowel disease(IBD).Methods:A total of 210 IBD patients from the gas-troenterology department of a tertiary hospital in Zhengzhou were assessed using a self-developed general informa-tion questionnaire,the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Distress Scale(IBD-DS),Mature Happiness Scale-revised(MHS-R),and Generalized Social Alienation Scale(GAS).Multiple linear regression analysis was performed to i-dentify factors associated with disease distress in IBD patients.Results:The mean IBD-DS score was(108.0±31.3).A negative correlation was observed between the MHS-R scores and IBD-DS scores(r=-0.86,P＜0.001),while a positive correlation was found between the GAS scores and IBD-DS scores(r=0.56,P＜0.001).Regression analysis revealed that patients in the active disease phase and those not receiving biologic therapy exhibi-ted higher levels of disease distress(β=0.08,0.08,Ps＜0.05).Additionally,higher social alienation and lower mature happiness were significantly associated with increased disease distress(β=0.18,-0.72,Ps＜0.001).Conclusion:Young and middle-aged IBD patients experience a high level of disease distress,influenced by disease phase,biologic therapy use,mature happiness,and social alienation.
