In Mongolian medicine,"Heyi"is considered the decisive factor for the normal operation of the body's life activities,and plays an important role in the healthy or diseased state of the body.In recent years,with the succes-sive discovery of endogenous gas signaling molecules,their regulatory role in the pathophysiological process of the body has received increasing attention from the academic community.Based on the"Three Roots Theory"of Mongolian medicine,the scientific hypothesis that"endogenous gas signaling molecules are the material basis of Heyi"is pro-posed.This paper reviews the biological characteristics,classification,distribution in the body,physiological functions,and pathological effects of the two aspects,in order to seek universal laws of the body's physiological and pathological states from the perspective of endogenous gas signaling molecules and"Heyi",and provide a reference for clinical prac-tice.
