县域新型城镇化对区域协调发展的影响OACHSSCD

Counties play a crucial role in the process of new-type urbanization and serve as an im-portant entry point for promoting regional coordination.Using county-level panel data and nighttime light data from 2010 to 2022,this study takes the National Comprehensive Pilot for New-Type Urbanization(hereinafter referred to as the new-type urbanization policy)as an exogenous policy shock to empirically examine its impact on regional coordination and the underlying channels.The empirical results indicate that the implementation of the new-type urbanization policies significantly promotes regional coordinated development.This finding remains robust after a series of tests,including parallel trend tests,placebo tests,heterogeneous treatment-effect tests,and controlling for other policies.Mechanism analysis further shows that the policy promotes regional coordinated development by strengthening public services on the supply side and expanding consumption and investment on the demand side.Further heterogeneity analysis reveals that the policy effect is more pronounced in regions with better business environments,higher levels of e-commerce development,and lower fiscal pressures.
