This review examines the operational employment of Russia's Kh-47M2"Dagger"high-speed vehicle during the Russia-Ukraine conflict,a subject of significant interest given its impact on modern high-intensity warfare and the shifting balance of aerospace power.The study explores the nexus between advanced weaponry and practical combat application,seeking to define how high-speed strike platforms perform in a contemporary theater.By synthesizing open-source data and documented engagements,this paper examines the Kinzhal as a primary case study for emerging high-speed sys-tems,evaluating their operational traits,tactical effectiveness,and inherent limitations within a broader strategic context. Significance The operational use of the"Dagger"provides a critical reference point for understand-ing the integration of high-speed strike capabilities into modern military frameworks.Its analysis sup-ports a more concrete assessment of rapid-response doctrines,deterrence postures,and the effective-ness of contemporary countermeasures.Moving beyond technical specifications,this review focuses on the system's performance in contested environments characterized by integrated air defense systems and electronic warfare.By prioritizing observed operational reality,it clarifies the practical constraints and enabling factors that determine the combat utility of such weapons,offering insights essential for forecasting trends in aerospace engagements and shifts in strategic stability. Progress The review first outlines the fundamental characteristics of the Kh-47M2,including its development background,key technical parameters,and launch platforms(Tab.1).This establishes a baseline for understanding its intended role within a broader strike architecture,with attention given to platform integration and deployment concepts.Subsequently,the paper presents a chronological examination of representative combat cases observed during the Russia-Ukraine conflict,as organized in(Fig.2).These cases are analyzed under conditions of high-intensity confrontation,allowing com-mon patterns in deployment and employment to be identified.The analysis systematically identifies observable features of operational use,such as mission profiles,engagement contexts,and interac-tions with defensive systems,highlighting consistent characteristics of practical employment.The paper then synthesizes research progress by comparing operational performance across three intercon-nected perspectives.First,confrontation capability and defensive outcomes are examined,with emphasis on how the"Dagger"performs against layered air and missile defense systems.Second,strike accuracy and destructive effects are discussed,focusing on reported operational outcomes and their consistency with the system's intended role.Third,strategic deterrence and psychological impact are analyzed,considering how the system's deployment influences perceptions of escalation and signaling under conflict conditions.Together,these perspectives provide a structured overview of current understanding regarding the operational behavior of the"Dagger"in real combat scenarios. Conclusions and Prospects The analysis indicates that the Kh-47M2"Dagger"demonstrates rapid-response capability and effective offensive potential under specific operational conditions.Its employ-ment reflects an emphasis on time-sensitive strike and high-speed penetration,aligning with broader trends in modern aerospace operations.At the same time,operational practice reveals notable chal-lenges.Reported combat use highlights vulnerabilities related to electronic countermeasures and the presence of advanced missile defense systems,which can influence engagement outcomes and con-strain effectiveness.These observations suggest that high-speed capability alone does not guarantee operational dominance and must be considered within a comprehensive confrontation environment.Looking forward,the continued evolution and employment patterns of systems like the"Dagger"are likely to influence regional aerospace power balances.The dynamic interplay between high-speed offensive systems and defensive countermeasures will drive ongoing adaptation.Systematic observation and analysis of operational deployments remain crucial for understanding how such capabilities will shape future conflict.Overall,this review integrates technical background,combat case analysis,and performance evaluation to provide a structured synthesis of the"Dagger's"operational use.By focus-ing on documented features and avoiding speculative assessment,it contributes to a more objective understanding of high-speed weapon employment in contemporary warfare,offering a reference for future research on aerospace strike systems and their strategic implications.
