Vertigo medicine is a new and developing medical science that has emerged in recent years.Vertigo disorders represent a category of conditions with high prevalence rates.Due to the lack of a vertigo department in the hospital,specialized diagnosis and treatment for these disorders were difficult to obtain.Therefore,the levels of diagnosis and treatment of vertigo diseases have been low for a long time,with symptomatic treatment as the main approach,making vertigo medicine in a weak area of medical field.Since the breakthrough in research on benign paroxysmal positional vertigo(otolithiasis),the researches of vertigo diseases have attracted multidisciplinary attentions,and the levels of diagnosis and treatment continue to improve.With the vigorous development of vertigo medicine over the past decade,many"Medical Centers for Vertigo"or specialized Departments of Vertigo has emerged in China,forming Chinese-characteristic path in vertigo medicine.The emergence,development,current status,and future of vertigo medicine in China are discussed in the article.
