The Geographical Distribution and Ecological Niche Dynamics of Different Codonopsis Species in Response to Climate Change

目的 解析党参(Codonopsis pilosula)、素花党参(C.pilosula var.modesta)和川党参(C.tangshen)的适生区时空动态及其对气候变化的响应机制,为党参资源保护与可持续利用提供科学依据.方法 基于MaxEnt模型框架,利用ENMeval包优化特征组合(Feature combination,FC)与调控倍频(Regularization multiplier,RM),整合当前气候数据与未来多情景气候数据,采用自然间断点法划分适生等级,并结合质心迁移模型分析空间响应策略.研究纳入104 个生态因子,系统解析物种特异性适应机制.结果 当前适生区呈现显著物种分布差异,素花党参分布最广(总适生区181.17×104 km2),党参次之(180.77×104 km2),川党参最窄(137.52×104 km2);降水因子是影响三种党参分布的主导环境变量,7月风速、气温年较差、降雨量季节性变化为跨物种共同适应基础,但物种特异性因子(如党参的11月水汽压、素花党参的海拔、川党参的12月最低温)驱动生态位分化;未来气候情景下,党参和素花党参适生区呈扩张趋势(党参西南扩至宁黔滇甘陕,素花党参东迁至鄂渝),而川党参面临"西缩东扩"的矛盾格局;质心迁移显示,川党参在低排放情景下西迁最显著(412.37 km),素花党参在高排放情景下迁移幅度最大(346.01 km).结论 党参药材三个基原物种对气候变化呈现非同步适应策略,川党参栖息地破碎化风险较高,需优先实施迁地保护与生态走廊建设;党参与素花党参的扩张趋势为资源利用提供空间依据.研究为药用植物适生区预测与保护策略制定提供了方法学参考及关键科学支撑.

Objective To analyze the spatiotemporal dynamics of suitable habitats and the response mechanisms to climate change of three Codonopsis species—C.pilosula,C.pilosula var.modesta,and C.tangshen—providing a scientific basis for the conservation and sustainable utilization of Codonopsis resources.Methods Based on the MaxEnt modeling framework,we utilized the ENMeval package to optimize feature combinations(FC)and regularization multipliers(RM).Current climate data were integrated with multi-scenario future climate projections,after which habitat suitability was classified using the natural breaks method.Spatial response strategies were subsequently analyzed via a centroid shift model.The study integrated 104 ecological factors to systematically elucidate species-specific adaptation mechanisms.Results Current suitable habitats exhibited significant interspecific divergence,with C.pilosula var.Modesta having the broadest distribution(total suitable area:181.17×104 km2),followed by C.pilosula(180.77×104 km2),and C.tangshen the narrowest(137.52×104 km2).Precipitation is the dominant environmental factor influencing the geographical distribution of the three Codonopsis species,with July wind speed,annual temperature range,and seasonal precipitation variation serving as common adaptive bases across species.However,species-specific factors(such as November vapor pressure for C.pilosula,elevation for C.pilosula var.modesta,and December minimum temperature for C.tangshen)drive niche differentiation.Under future climate scenarios,C.pilosula and C.pilosula var.modesta showed habitat expansion(C.pilosula southwestward to Ningxia-Guizhou-Yunnan-Gansu-Shanxi,C.pilosula var.modesta eastward to Hubei-Chongqing),whereas C.tangshen faced a contradictory"westward contraction-eastward expansion"pattern.Centroid migration indicated C.tangshen exhibited the most pronounced westward shift under low-emission scenarios(412.37 km),while C.pilosula var.modesta displayed the largest displacement under high-emission scenarios(346.01 km).Conclusion The three original species of Codonopsis Radix exhibited asynchronous adaptation strategies to climate change,with C.tangshen at higher risk of habitat fragmentation,necessitating prioritized ex situ conservation and ecological corridor construction.The expansion trends of C.pilosula and C.pilosula var.modesta provide spatial guidance for resource utilization.This study offers methodological references and key scientific support for predicting suitable habitats and formulating conservation strategies for medicinal plants.
