This paper proposes that the core pathogenesis of non-obese polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS)lies in spleen yin deficiency and dual deficiency of qi and yin.Deficiency of spleen yin impairs transportation and transfor-mation,leading to insufficient nutrient-blood generation,manifested as delayed menstruation,scanty periods,amenor-rhea,and even infertility or miscarriage;yin deficiency generating internal heat and deficient fire disturbing the collat-erals result in symptoms such as acne,constipation,and insomnia.Prolonged illness affects the heart,liver,and kid-neys,ultimately resulting in dual deficiency of qi and yin and multi-organ dysfunction.The treatment principle em-phasizes"nourishing yin with sweet and bland herbs,boosting qi and invigorating the spleen,"selecting mild and neutral medicinal substances such as Chinese yam(Shanyao),Poria(Fuling),Pseudostellaria root(Taizishen),and coix seed(Yiyiren)to nourish yin without hindering transportation and to boost qi while supporting transformation resources.This approach addresses the root cause of spleen yin deficiency while concurrently managing the secondary aspects of qi deficiency and stagnant heat,offering a new perspective for the syndrome differentiation and treatment of non-obese PCOS.
