The Jin Dynasty literatis produced a substantial number of diverse vegetable-themed poems works.These works not only praise the delicious taste of vegetables but also employ vegetable imagery to express homesickness,to expect for retreat from officialdom,or to convey personal aspirations through vegetables,thereby showcasing the poets'noble moral integrity.Vegetable-themed poetry of the Jin Dynasty is characterized by the skillful application of classical allusions,plain literary style,and the construction of poetic artistic conception by using vegetable imagery.Vegetable-themed works are rarely found in the monastic poetry of the Jin Dynasty.This phenomenon is associated with the Jin court's limited support for Buddhist development and its inheritance of the Huayan sect from the Liao Dynasty,a sect that prioritized doctrinal study over Zen practice.The research findings provide references for further analysis of the creative styles and artistic features of vegetable-themed poetry in the Jin Dynasty.
