《严氏济生方》眩晕证治探析OA

YAN's presriptions for succouring the sick was compiled by Southern Song dynasty physician YAN Yonghe.It is a comprehensive medical work that systematically summarizes clinical experience prior to the Song dynasty.YAN held that vertigo has manifold etiologies and intricate pathomechanisms;consequently,he reduced its causes to two overarching categories:external contraction and internal injury.For externally contracted verti-go,he advocated resolving the exterior and expelling pathogenic factors as the primary method;for vertigo due to internal injury,he emphasized rectifying qi and dissipating phlegm.For vertigo caused by other etiologies,he in-sisted on integrating disease identification with pattern differentiation and administering treatment according to the specific cause.This paper examines YAN's approach from three perspectives-theoretical origins,etiology and pathomechanisms,and therapeutic methods with corresponding formulas-in order to elucidate the academic es-sence of his management of vertigo and its enduring influence on the subsequent development of Chinese medical theory concerning this condition.
