The Chronicle of Traditional Villages in Sandu Shui Autonomous County systematically documents the historical evolution,spatial morphology,cultural practices,and multi-ethnic coexistence of 54 traditional villages within Qiannan's Sandu Shui Autonomous County.It profoundly illustrates the living transmission and reproduction of local knowledge.Transcending the conventional framework of local gazetteers,this work centers on the ethnographic documentation of village customs.From an anthropolog-ical perspective,it reveals how village spaces embody cosmologies and social orders,how cultural practices sustain ethnic identity and inter-ethnic interactions,and the dialectical relationship between the preserva-tion and development of traditional villages amid modernization.It provides a vital ethnographic text for understanding the mechanisms of"cultural symbiosis"in Southwest China's multi-ethnic regions and the construction of the Chinese national community.
