Uterine fibroids(UFs),also known as uterine leiomyoma,are a common benign and solid tumor in women.As one of the frequently-occurring diseases in the gynecological clinic,UFs affect women's quality of life and fertility to a certain extent.Professor BAN Xiuwen,a traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)master,has clinical experience of more than 70 years.He has deep attainments in gynecology,especially in early UF treatment by the warming method.He believes that the main causes of UFs are cold,dampness,and deficiency.He summarizes that the pathogenesis is characterized by cold coagulation of blood vessels,dampness-heat and blood stasis,and deficiency of both qi and blood.Therefore,in early UF intervention,the methods of warming and dispersing,warming and eliminating,and warming and tonifying should be emphasized to control or eliminate the fibroid.Inheriting ancient experiences,BAN Xiuwen flexibly utilizes his rich experiences for early UF treatment by the warming method.
