The steering torque of a podded populsor generally comprises components such as hydrodynamic forces,friction forces,inertial forces,gyroscopic forces,and ice loads.Based on an analysis of the steering torque mechanisms in podded populsors,this paper thoroughly examines the components of steering torque and corresponding computational evaluation methods during open water steady-state navigation,open water dynamic navigation,and ice navigation conditions,along with corresponding computational evaluation methods.Optimization design recommendations for reducing steering torque are proposed,providing design references for steering design and control optimization of podded populsors.
