To improve the stem separation and picking performance of pepper harvester,a three-axis drum-type stem separation device and a four-axis drum-type stem separation device were designed,and their performances were tested and evaluated.By installing a cylindrical brush roller in the drum-type stem separation device,the damage rate of peppers during harvesting was reduced.When the pepper harvester was in a non-moving state during non-picking operations,compared with the three-axis drum,the average stem separation rate of the four-axis drum increased by 3%,the average branch-carrying rate decreased by 5.65%,and the average damage rate increased by 7.15%.When the harvester was in a moving state during picking operations,compared with the three-axis drum,the SSE of the four-axis drum increased by 4.1%,the PTR decreased by 3.1%,and the DR increased by 1%,manifesting an improvement in the pepper stem-separation capacity.
