Yixue Xinwu was written by CHENG Guopeng,a renowned physician in the Qing Dynasty of China.Characterized by its clarity,conciseness in distilling complex concepts,and profound implications,this book represents CHENG's masterpiece that synthesizes the essence of classical medical theories and integrates the strengths of various medical schools.While inheriting traditional medical classics,Cheng put forward many innovative viewpoints—particularly evident in the chapter"On Fire"where he classifies"fire"into deficient fire and excessive fire and provides corresponding treatment strategies.He further proposes the fundamental therapeutic principle that"pathogenic fire should be dispelled rather than retained,and nourishing fire should be nourished rather than damaged".This principle not only enriches the connotation of the"fire"theory but also expands its clinical application scope.Notably,this"fire"theory aligns well with liver cirrhosis and its complications in multiple aspects,such as etiopathogenesis and therapeutic principles.Clinical practice has proven its remarkable efficacy in treating these conditions.This paper intends to extend CHENG's"fire"theory and apply it to the clinical management of liver cirrhosis and its complications,aiming to provide new insights for the TCM syndrome differentiation and treatment of liver cirrhosis and its complications in modern clinical practice.
