Impact and Mechanism of Artificial Intelligence on the Synergy of Pollution and Carbon Reduction in Manufacturing Industry

文章基于2011-2022年中国沪深A股制造业上市公司数据,在测算制造业企业减污降碳协同增效水平的基础上,构建计量模型实证检验人工智能对制造业企业减污降碳协同增效的影响及作用机制.结果表明,人工智能显著提升了制造业企业减污降碳协同增效水平.机制分析结果表明,人工智能主要通过促进绿色技术创新、优化企业治理以及提高生产效率三个渠道影响制造业企业减污降碳协同增效.异质性分析结果显示,人工智能对制造业企业减污降碳协同增效的促进效应在国有企业、大规模企业、"双高"行业以及法治环境较好地区更为突出.

Based on the data of China's A-share listed manufacturing companies in Shanghai and Shenzhen from 2011 to 2022,this paper calculates the level of synergy between pollution reduction and carbon reduction in manufacturing enterprises,and then constructs an econometric model to empirically test the impact and mechanism of artificial intelligence(AI)on the synergy of pollution reduction and carbon reduction in manufacturing.The results show that AI significantly improves the level of the syner-gy of pollution reduction and carbon reduction in manufacturing.The results of mechanism analysis show that AI affects the synergy of pollution reduction and carbon reduction of manufacturing enterprises mainly through three channels:promoting green technolo-gy innovation,optimizing corporate governance and improving production efficiency.The results of heterogeneity analysis reveal that the promotion effect of AI on the synergy of pollution reduction and carbon reduction in manufacturing enterprises is more prominent in state-owned enterprises,large-scale enterprises,"dual-high"industries and regions with better legal environment.
