With the development of big data and artificial intelligence technology,data is controlled by capital and platforms,and hence hegemony,monopoly,and exploitation are gradually emerging,forming data colonialism.Data colonialism is an emerging order that exploits,plunders,and extracts data resources for profit through data relationships.It is a new manifestation of colonialism,driven by the development of capitalism,and deeply shapes the relationships between people and between people and society.It attempts to colonize the lives of the masses,control the lives of the subjects,promote the ideology of dataism,and create conditions for capital plunder and profit.American left-wing scholar Nick Couldry and British scholar Ulises A.Mejias analyzed the phenomenon of data colonization in daily life,focusing on the living conditions of people in the era of big data,but did not provide a strong answer on how to prevent and uncover data colonization.Examining the phenomenological analysis of the two individuals based on historical materialism can help clarify the essence of data colonialism and provide theoretical reflections for human resistance to data colonialism.
