Research progress on the associations between manganese exposure and pregnancy complications and birth outcomes

锰是一种人体必需微量元素,参与骨形成、糖脂代谢、抗氧化防御及神经递质合成等关键生理过程,并且其生物学效应呈现的典型剂量依赖性双向调节特征使其具有深度研究的价值.日益严重的环境污染加剧了人群锰暴露,而孕妇和胎儿因胎盘主动转运和生理需求增加成为高危人群.本文总结了近年来锰暴露与母婴健康的研究进展,综述了锰与妊娠并发症和胎儿出生结局之间复杂的关联,为深入研究锰暴露与母婴健康关系提供了重要的工作基础和思路.

Manganese(Mn),an essential trace element,plays a crucial role in various physiological processes including osteogenesis,carbohydrate and lipid metabolism,antioxidant defense,and neurotransmitter synthesis.Its biological effects are characterized by a dose-dependent biphasic regulatory pattern,which warrants further investigation.With the increasing levels of environmental pollution,population-wide exposure to Mn has risen significantly,particularly affecting pregnant women and fetuses who are considered high-risk groups due to enhanced placental transport capacity and increased physiological requirements during pregnancy.This review summarizes recent research advances on Mn exposure and maternal and child health(MCH)and discusses the complex associations between Mn and pregnancy complications as well as fetal birth outcomes.It aims to provide a comprehensive foundation and conceptual framework for future studies on the impact of Mn exposure on MCH.
