Industrial and commercial culture is one of the most representative cultural cards of Wuxi.The former residences of the industrial and commercial celebrities carry the spirit of Wuxi merchants and the connotations of industrial and commercial culture,and are precious cultural heritages of the city.The living heritage approach(LHA)emphasizes the continuity of heritage,which aligns with the goal of inheriting industrial and commercial culture and the spirit of Wuxi merchants in the former residences of industrial and commercial celebrities.Therefore,this approach is introduced into the protection and reuse of these residences.Following the idea of decision-making on the protection and utilization strategies of Wuxi industrial and commercial celebrities'former residences under the guidance of the core communities supported by the peripheral communities and protection experts,the former residence of Cai Hongsheng is taken as a practical case.Through on-site investigation,the current situation and value of the building are analyzed,and the management system and living protection plan for the residence are proposed.It is hoped that it can provide a reference for the development of Wuxi industrial and commercial celebrities'residences and the inheritance of industrial and commercial culture.
