With the deepening exploration of animal genomics and the popularization of high-throughput omics technologies,goat breeding strategies have evolved from a reliance on traditional phenotypic selection methods to approaches primarily guided by molecular biology techniques.Molecular breeding technology has emerged as a catalyst for the high-quality development of agriculture and has become a pivotal benchmark in assessing a nation's competitiveness in agricultural science and technology.This technology encompasses a variety of avant-garde breeding strategies,including molecular marker-assisted selection,gene editing techniques,and transgenic technologies.This paper offers a comprehensive review of the current application of molecular breeding techniques in the field of goat breeding,challenges encountered,and potential directions for future development,which would provide insights and guidance for forthcoming research and practical applications in goat breeding.
