##Objectives:This study examines the possibility of rewilding post-industrial environments that have been abandoned as an effective way to protect and increase biodiversity worldwide.Restoration and conservation plans often neglect post-industrial areas, generally defined by pollution, land deterioration, and abandonment.Fortunately, these environments provide particular prospects for biodiversity preservation and restoration of the environment. The reintroduction of native and indigenous species reinstates biological processes, ecosystem functions and create sustainable ecosystems by rewilding these sites and making significant improvements to the biodiversity conservation goals. All around the world, abandoned, polluted, and degraded landscapes are a traces and relics of the Industrial Revolution and the urbanization that followed. As a result of their contaminated or toxic soils and disturbed ecosystems, these post-industrial landscape which include abandoned factories, mines, and landfills are usually regarded as biologically and environmentally dead zones.Rewilding,or enabling natural processes to restore and repair damaged landscapes,is a potential method of transforming these regions into significant biological assets, according to recent developments in biodiversity conservation and landscape architecture. The goals of rewilding are to establish sustainable ecosystems, revive biological processes, and restore native flora and wildlife. This strategy not only improves biodiversity but also offers a host of environmental benefits like soil preservation, water purification, and carbon sequestration.Rewilding post-industrial sites can also provide recreation opportunities, enhance human health, and boost the community's economy by generating job creation and eco-tourism. Methods:Using a multidisciplinary approach, this study integrates concepts from environmental science, socioeconomic research, landscape architecture, and ecology. We carry out an extensive review of the literature on current rewilding initiatives, examine case studies from different geographical areas, and examine the ecological, social, and economic effects of these initiatives. Projects from North America,Europe, and Asia are among the chosen case studies, offering a wide variety of situations and difficulties. In order to comprehend the rewilding methods used, the species restored and re-introduced,the ecological results attained, and the societal benefits realized, each case study is examined.Rewilding post-industrial environments can be facilitated by identifying common challenges and effective solutions through comparative research. Results:The study's findings demonstrate how rewilding has a great deal of potential to improve ecosystem health and biodiversity.Rewilding initiatives have successfully reintroduced a large number of native species, including keystone species that are essential to sustaining ecological equilibrium,in the case studies that have been reviewed. In certain locations, for example, the reintroduction of preys and predators has aided in the restoration of trophic chains, resulting in ecosystems that are more robust and diversified.Rewilding has also increased ecosystem interaction, which makes it easier for species to move and spread. For diversity in genes and the long-term survival of species in broken environments, this relationship and interaction is essential. In addition to providing essential supplies for birds, pollinators, and other species, the restored habitats help increase biodiversity in general. Rewilding post-industrial areas has produced major advantages for society in addition to environmental ones.Numerous rewilding initiatives have turned abandoned sites into lovely green areas, improving the aesthetic value of urban settings and offering locals leisure options.By lowering heat waves in cities, enhancing air quality, and offering locations for rest and exercise, these green spaces have positive health effects.Rewilding initiatives have boosted local economies financially by promoting ecotourism and generating employment in the fields of preservation and protection, habitat management, and associated sectors. In particular, natural reserves created in rewilded industrial areas draw tourists, which boost local business owners and promote a sense of ownership and identity in the area. Conclusion:The results of this study highlight the significance of taking a broad and integrated strategy for renewal and biodiversity protection. There has been an evolution in the way we see and handle damaged environments since the rewilding of these post-industrial landscapes.Rewilding views these places as potential sites for restoration of nature, biodiversity, and societal revival rather than as burdens. When the local population is involved in the development and execution of rewilding programs, they succeed. This encourages long-term dedication to the regenerated landscapes and a sense of responsibility.Governments and conservation groups must offer ecological restoration through rewilding with sufficient funds and supportive legislation. To evaluate advancements and maximize conservation results, scientific investigation and observation are crucial. For rewilding to be successful, habitat connectivity and interaction must be improved through natural corridors and green networks. This is because these features enable species to adapt to shifting environmental circumstances and promote sustainable ecosystems. Rewilding abandoned post-industrial environments is a sustainable plan for protecting and increasing biodiversity worldwide. This strategy offers major benefits for society in addition to restoring ecosystem functions and fostering biodiversity.Rewilding enhances human well-being,sustainable development, and climate stability by repurposing degraded areas into vibrant ecosystems.
